WHAT IS RMX?Collaborative projects and workshops initiated in 2000 by art and design collective Rinzen.
RMX The Beginning 2000The idea of remixing design work was something of a novelty in 2000; graphic collaborations usually entailed a linear process of refinement towards an agreed aesthetic goal, or were collaborative in the concept stages but not execution.
RMX Extended Play 2001Enthusiasm is infectious and as word of the first RMX project spread, Rinzen gathered together a troop of keen participants – this time from across the world – Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, the US and the UK.
Fresh RMX 2001In a rapid-fire 5 week project, 39 participants collaboratively created an unbroken sequence of images in an international execution of the Surrealist's Exquisite Corpse.
Neighbourhood 2004-2006Neighbourhood stitches together artists from around the world in a spontaneous collaborative toy remixing project — which took several years to wend its way across the world.
Neighbourhood Workshop 2004Inspired by a sneak preview of the Neighbourhood project during
Rinzen's speech and exhibition, attendees at the inaugural Pictoplasma
Conference in Berlin descended on the workshop in droves...
RMXIdeas Workshop at AGIdeas 2005Following Rinzen's presentation at AGIdeas in Melbourne, workshop
participants explored rapid spontaneous creation in a six hour
workshop.
Solar Powered RMX Workshop at Esquina Norte 2007Rinzen toured Mexico in 2007 - with a lecture in Tijuana at Esquina
Norte and an exhibition of sun inspired prints and watercolours in
Mexico City.
RMX Big Bang Workshop 2007Rinzen led 15 participants over 10 days in the transformation of a
room at the Intercross Creative Centre in Sapporo, Japan. Each day a
different task was aimed at exploring the fundamentals of image
creation.
New RMX WorkshopsDo you want to play with us? Rinzen present RMX workshops all over the world as part of design conferences, art festivals and at universities and agencies.
